Under the direct supervision of the Jail Administrator, this position is responsible for the professional administration and enforcement of all federal, state, and local laws as they apply in law enforcement and detention facilities, including federal and state correction standards. Provides direct supervision of the Correctional Officers on shift. Provides supervision over the health, welfare and safety of inmates within a secured jail facility. Correctional Officers are responsible for constantly supervising and evaluating inmates in a pre-sentenced and sentenced status and are required to interchange and perform proficiently in three major positions within the facility. Those positions are jail control officer, roving correctional officer, and booking officer.
