Communication Styles Anderson G
+ -

Communication styles are a vital piece of communication because they influence the power of both the intent and the impact of a message. While it is important to learn your own style, it is critical to be able to identify and understand the communication styles of others so you can adapt accordingly. Knowledge of how the communication process actually works in terms of what’s being said and what’s being heard are the keys to communication effectiveness. Combining the different styles while staying within your authentic boundaries is what it takes to be an effective communicator today.

Navigating Difficult Conversations and Understanding Conflict Anderson G

Navigating difficult conversations is a process of working through misunderstandings by having collaborative conversations. Most conflict is about expectations that are unmet or have not been communicated. Behind every complaint is a hidden request. That difficult employee, client, boss, or uncooperative coworker wants more of something and/or less of something.

Often it is the same people with the same never-ending issues. Handling difficult behavior is one of the biggest drains on our energy and productivity. As long as it is managed effectively, it can lead to personal and professional growth.

Where AI Actually Belongs in Your County Office — and How to Start Pillsbury
+ -

AI is everywhere in government conversations right now, but most county staff are still asking the same question: what should we actually do with it?
This session cuts through the noise with real examples from assessment offices across the country. You'll see how AI-powered document workflows are eliminating manual processing across the work your staff handles every day — homestead applications arriving by mail and PDF, deed and CRV data extraction for ownership updates and sales analysis, Green Acres and Disabled Veteran program documentation, and building permit reviews that trigger reappraisals.
These aren't futuristic ideas. They're workflows your office already manages — just without the manual re-keying, the data entry errors, and the staff time that should be spent on decisions instead of documents. You'll leave with a practical framework for identifying which process to modernize first and how to evaluate it.

M365 Produces Rich Security and Compliance Logs Sibley
+ -

Microsoft 365 produces rich security and compliance logs—but understanding how they work together is key. This session walks through how to review and correlate logs from Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Defender to investigate incidents, validate controls, and answer audit and security questions.
Using practical scenarios, we’ll highlight where to find critical events, how to pivot between identity, data, and threat signals, and how to build a clear activity timeline across the platform.

Key takeaways:
• Where to find and how to interpret high value Entra, Purview, and Defender logs
• How to correlate events across services for faster investigations
• Tips to improve visibility and audit readiness in Microsoft 365
Designed for security and compliance professionals looking for practical, real world investigation techniques.

From Idea to Impact: Building Schleicher County’s Employee Wellness Program Anderson G
+ -

Rural counties face unique challenges when it comes to employee wellness—limited resources, small staffs, and the need to balance fiscal responsibility with meaningful benefits. This session shares the real world journey of Schleicher County’s wellness program, built intentionally over time to support employee health while protecting public funds.

Key takeaways include:
• How to start or strengthen a wellness program with limited staff and resources
• Using incentives to encourage participation without creating administrative burden
