Tell us a little bit about your company!
Superior Consulting Services (SCS) is all about helping organizations harness the power of their data. We are a Minnesota company based out of Burnsville and have been helping organizations with their data needs since 1997. We have a long history of working with local government organizations. Our first client was the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and they remain a client today.
We bring decades of experience working with Microsoft Power BI and the Microsoft data environment to every training, report authoring, and analytics environment project we do. Our consultants include individuals who have presented at regional and national conferences and events, as well as authors for McGraw-Hill Education.
SCS can take on projects ranging from authoring reports to creating complete reporting and analytics environments. We can also provide additional person-power to augment an organization’s technical staff. We offer standard classes or create custom tailored training on Power BI and can provide mentors to work alongside you in Power BI or any of the Microsoft data tools.

What products, services, or training do you offer to local government agencies?
- Power BI & Enterprise-scale Analytics: Data modeling, analysis, and visualization with the most powerful business analytics tools available.
- Mentoring: Mentoring solutions are designed to leave your team with the knowledge and skills to be successful in the future.
- Training: We teach you the skills and knowledge to perform agreed upon tasks, or work with various technologies. Custom training is available.
- MN Counties HHS Data Depot: This initiative seeks to provide a standard platform for Minnesota county Health and Human Services departmements to report on and utilize data from state-wide systems. The standardization across counties reduces the cost of implementation, allows for easy sharing of reports, and enables data-related solutions to be shared across counties,
What is your favorite part of working with an organization like MnCCC?
We really enjoy the sense of cooperation and mutual support among the counties that MnCCC exemplifies. This is a refreshing contrast to the competitive environment we encounter in the private sector.
What are your company's future plans and upcoming projects?
Superior Consulting Solutions is partnering with Clarity Solutions Group to create the Minnesota Counties HHS Data Depot Initiative. This initiative will create a county-driven, standardized data integration model that builds upon existing county access to state data while streamlining the process, ensuring consistency, and reducing duplication of effort. Rather than each county developing separate solutions, this model establishes a common framework for securely accessing, storing, and using state data in a way that benefits all participating counties.
We are currently recruiting charter member counties to begin sharing in the benefits of this initiative.
Tell us a little bit about the non-profit you chose to donate to?
Helping Paws is the non-profit that Mark & Melissa Hortman trained Service Dogs for. In memory of Melissa, Mark and their dog, Gilbert we have chosen Helping Paws as our recipient.
