Tell us a little bit about MCIS!
MCIS (Minnesota Counties Information Systems) has been supporting Minnesota counties by providing software for Property Tax, CAMA , and Payroll/HR since 1975. We’re a joint powers organization that focuses on building practical, reliable software and providing the kind of support counties can count on. Our work centers around helping counties run their core operations smoothly with technology that’s built for them.
What products, services, or training do you offer to local government agencies?
We develop and support several core systems used across county government, including Property Tax, CAMA , and Payroll/HR. We handle the design, development, implementation, training, and ongoing support for those systems. We also provide first level support and coordination with other third-party vendors. We host, support counties, and provide technical assistance. Each area has an active user group, which gives counties a direct voice in recommending enhancements and shaping how the systems evolve.
What is your favorite part of working with an organization like MnCCC?
The collaboration. MnCCC brings together people from all over the state who are doing similar work and facing similar challenges. It gives us the chance to hear what other counties are working on, share ideas, and build relationships that help everyone. The networking and the discussions that happen through MnCCC are always valuable and often spark new ideas.
What are your company's future plans and upcoming projects?
We have several projects underway, including updates to our Inquiry, Payments, and Homesteads applications and continued improvements to the Property Tax, CAMA , and Payroll/HR systems. We’re also putting more focus on accessibility, documentation, and training resources, along with strengthening our hosting and security services. Our goal is to continue modernizing our systems while making sure counties have dependable tools and support they can rely on.
