Special Spotlight: National Intern Day!

MnCCC Spotlight Furkan Addow, MnCCC Intern

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I was born in Blaine Minnesota and I have lived in the same house for the past 20 years of my life. I graduated from Blaine High School where I spent my final year of high school and first year of college online due to covid. Now I'm a rising junior at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I’m majoring in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, and Advertising and double minoring in Creative Writing and Digital Media Studies with a certificate in Publishing and Editing. I'm not 100% sure what I want to do once I graduate because there are so many interesting things. Right now my top interest is publishing, I've always loved books and the written word so working with authors has always been a dream of mine but I always keep an open mind!

What was your first job?

My first job was at Adventures plus where I worked with school-aged children. I started when I was 16 years old and worked there on and off again for years! I worked there with my best friend which made it great! I loved working with kids, it was something new every day.

What was your role at MnCCC?

I began at MnCCC in October where I helped integrate physical documents into Salesforce which took a couple of months but I continued on as the conference intern where I helped plan the annual conference in Alexandria!

What interests you about MnCCC?

Originally my friend was the one who sent me the job posting from MnCCC because she thought it would be something I would like. I applied and I’m not going to lie I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. But I’m so glad I did because MnCCC has been one of the best places I’ve worked at! Everyone I met was extremely kind and made working there a great experience!

What is something on your bucket list?

Since I’ve lived my entire life in Minnesota, I’ve always wanted to travel. The top place on my bucket list is to go to Italy. My best friend and I are planning on going after graduation and spending a few weeks traveling around Italy so hopefully, we can cross that off soon!
