What was your first job?
Working on the family farm. My first real job after college was Sports Editor at the Inter-County Leader in Frederic, WI. I started in government as an appraiser trainee in Chisago County in 1978.
What is your role with Winona County?
I have been County Assessor in Winona since 1997. I am retiring on April 30, 2021 after 42+ years in public service. While in Winona, I have also served as interim County Assessor in Fillmore and Wabasha County.
What interests you about MnCCC?
I was working in Chisago County when we got our first computer. Everything was done by hand before that. I think one of the strengths of MnCCC is that different offices work together for the greater good. Assessors, Auditors, IT folks all have skills to share that makes all of us stronger.
What is something on your bucket list?
My daughter wants me to go with her to Germany. I think it would be a blast.
