MnCCC Spotlight: Emily Ladd
What was your first job?
My first job was as a dishwasher when I was 14 at a place called Ted & Gen’s in Aldrich, MN. The dishwashing machine hardly worked, so we had to wash EVERYTHING by hand in boiling hot water. Needless to say, that was a character-building job.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I was born in Austin, TX and moved to Minnesota when I was pretty little. I grew up in Staples with my parents, sister, and two brothers, of which I’m the youngest. I participated in golf, cross country, and all things music in high school. I graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead in December 2018 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. In fact, the summer before my senior semester, I was the MnCCC Marketing and Event Planning Intern! I graduated a semester early and moved to Nashville with my boyfriend, Jordan. As our lease was coming to an end, we decided to pack our bags and come back to Minnesota, where I am happily working at MnCCC and living in Downtown St. Paul!
Some of my favorite activities include drawing, reading, golfing, cooking, napping, and spending time with family. You can typically catch me daydreaming about going on vacation, binge-watching something on Netflix, or drinking copious amounts of coffee. My favorite holiday is my birthday and I am obsessed with anything related to dogs.
What interests you about MnCCC and what is your role?
I am currently the Marketing and Membership Intern at MnCCC but will be taking on a new role in April when our lovely Darci retires.
Among all the great things this organization stands for, my favorite thing about MnCCC is the people we work with. Not only am I incredibly fortunate for such an amazing group of internal staff, but our members, vendors, and other partners are a joy to work with as well. There is nothing more important than making relationships with others, especially when what you do impacts their day-to-day this much. You know what they say, when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.
What is something on your bucket list you'd like to do?
In the short term, my biggest bucket list item is to get a dog. On a grander scale, I hope to visit all 7 continents in my lifetime (yes, that includes Antarctica).
