MnCCC Spotlight: Dayle

Dayle Moore Spotlight

What was your first job?

I grew up on a farm, so I had many jobs … all great paying and meaningful, so said my father.  My first job that I contributed to my Social Security Fund was working for an amusement company where I fixed video games (you know the old arcade style) pinball machines and juke boxes, again the ones that actually played records.  One thing this job gave me was a great collection of 45’s with hits from the 70’s and 80’s.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I went to college to be a mechanical engineer at SDSU, then decided that I didn’t want to be that in life and switched to computer / business which is how I ended up in Mankato.  I have lived there ever since.  My wife Kimberly and I have four grown kids and 2 and ½ grandchildren.

What interests you about MnCCC?

McCCC has always impressed me, coming from a small/medium county, to the value and ability to work together on almost all aspects.  Through the years and ups and downs, which there has been, the organization has been able to pull together and work across issues and provide solutions to support our user groups and thus back to the public in a way that other organizations have not been able to.

What is your role with Nicollet County?

My role at Nicollet County is the Director of Technologies and has changed through the years in many ways.  My first task was to bring MNet into the County, back in the day that made the paper and everything!  I was also tasked with getting the first email accounts for departments up and going.  Now email and other technology is the life-blood of how everything is done in the county.  It used to be tongue-in- cheek to say if it uses electricity or generates heat I’m involved with it.  Now sadly I say that and know it is true, but in a very good way.

What is your role on the MnCCC Board?

My role on the board is now as the Member At-Large Representative which was added this past June.  With the growth of MnCCC and importance of collaboration, the board members share a number of duties which allow the organization and user groups to work in the manner that they do.

What is something on your bucket list you'd like to do?

My wife and I would like to travel more, she wants to go back to Africa and I have always wanted to go to Australia, but my reasons may have changed through the years.  My first reason was to dive on the reef, but age and the “need” to swim with the sharks is not the pull that it once had on me.
