MnCCC Spotlight: Dan Whitman

Dan Whitman

Dan's Off to Retirement

Dan Whitman has served on MnCCC's Executive Board for over 10 years! In honor of his committment to MnCCC and his role as a board member, we'd like to recognize Dan and his outstanding work. Here's a little snapshot about Dan:

What was your first job?

I started as a kid working on the farm pitching manure until I was out of school then went to work as a Culligan man, next I worked in a factory welding, in the foundry pouring steel, then ran the group home for the mentally handicapped Muriel Humphrey Residences Inc., then a manager of the Domino’s Pizza on the U of M campus, then owned and operated a small country store, then stay at homes dad and data manager, then school bus driver, then got first job part time assessing my township.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I’ve lived almost my whole life in my small village of East Chain. I’ve been on the township board for over 30 years, I’ve held almost every position there is in our Country Church. I’ve been on a number of Foreign Missions trips to Romania, Congo, Africa, and the last few years working with the poor in Mexico.

What interests you about MnCCC?

I really like collaboration to accomplish more for local governments – MnCCC is a perfect example of counties working together to do a better job.

What is something on your bucket list you’d like to do?

I’m hoping to ride my bike much more including taking in a NASCAR race and to Alaska
