MnCCC Spotlight: Dan Jensen

Dan Jensen Spotlight

What was your first job?

In high school I worked at an Italian restaurant at 15 washing dishes. When I left for college I had worked almost every position in the kitchen and was the kitchen manager/ lead cook. It was an amazing experience in work and developing relationships.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

Christine and I have been married 30 years! We have three children – Donovan, Timothy, and Claudia. The boys are grown and both have careers in technology while Claudia is a senior in high school. Christine and I enjoy time in the woods on our Polaris RZR and are active in our church.

What interests you about MnCCC?

MnCCC is an amazing way for counties to support one another, share costs, and best practices while leveraging systems that would not be possible if they tried to work alone. I have seen multiple times where a county had a vacancy in a specialized position and another MnCCC agency offered staff to provide coverage and work to train the replacement. It is this type of support that sets MnCCC apart from other organizations.

What is your role with Olmsted county?

Since March 12th I have been on a mobility assignment as the Operations Chief of COVID Response for Olmsted County. While much of my career has been in public health, the last couple years I have worked in Health Housing Human Services Administration as the Strategic Informatics Officer; working to access datasets from DHS and designing cross-organizational systems to support our community.

What is something on your bucket list?

While I have enjoyed checking many items off my bucket list, my top item remains building and driving a 10 second (quarter-mile) car.
