MnCCC Spotlight: Cynthia Borgen
What was your first job?
My first summer job was at a shop that created a wide variety of metal parts. My primary role was to package and ship the parts, but I also spent a fair amount of time deburring gears. It took several months for my fingerprints to reemerge.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I have two grown daughters and five grandchildren that I don’t get to visit nearly enough. I have a 40-acre woodland and live in the home my father designed and built over 30 years ago with wood from the property. I enjoy walking through the wooded trails with my two dogs, Rex and Duke. I usually enjoy training for half-marathons, but both of my usual races have been shifted to virtual events and it’s just not as motivating. I also spend time reading and gardening.
What interests you about MnCCC?
I appreciate that MnCCC actively engages users. It keeps us connected through a variety of focused committees and our CHS User Group.
What is your role with Beltrami county?
I am the Public Health Director. The role is usually very broad and focused on a wide variety of programs and activities. I am very fortunate to have two very proficient supervisors who have been able to keep their programs running because for the last six-months I have spent all of my time and at least half of their time on our response to COVID.
What is something on your bucket list?
I have lots of great ideas for my landscaping plan for the 2-3 acres I consider to be my yard – it’s going to take me several more years to implement the plan.
