MnCCC Spotlight: Amanda Beyer

Amanda Beyer Spotlight

What was your first job?

I was my neighborhood’s designated babysitter and dog sitter! But my first job on a payroll was working at a local bagel shop! There, I developed a true love for good bagels and homemade cream cheese! Not to mention, the smoothies were amazing – I had some great foodie perks!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I am transplant that hails from America’s Dairyland – originally from Hudson, Wisconsin. But that’s basically Minnesota, so I always tell people I’m from Minnesconsin. Something that a lot of people don’t know about me is that I competed in a pageant and won! I was crowned Miss Hudson back in the day. I went to UW-River Falls for my undergrad and completed a graduate degree at St. Thomas, go Falcons and Tommies! I also spent a semester interning in Washington DC which was a blast! When I’m not working, I enjoy running and signing up for “fun runs” like the Tough Mudder! But most importantly, I have an affection for dogs, especially German Shepherds! I also get excited whenever I see Snoopy from the Peanuts gang!

What interests you about MnCCC?

The statewide cross-collaboration! It’s really neat to see Minnesota counties, cities, and agencies come together and collaborate at user group meetings, trainings, and our annual conference. We are in unique position to bring everyone across the state together, and it’s rewarding to see growth in our membership. The connections our members, vendors, and MnCCC staff make with each other are incredibly valuable!

What is your role at MnCCC?

I am the Communications and Event Planning Coordinator at MnCCC. We may be a small office of four, but I am grateful to work with the most knowledgeable, supportive, and dedicated coworkers – shout out to Lisa, Mike, and Emily! And even though Darci retired, her mentorship has helped me grow in my role at MnCCC. So stay tuned, there’s a lot more on the horizons at MnCCC!

What is something on your bucket list you'd like to do?

After a couple of half marathons under my belt, I’d like to run a full marathon someday! I’d also like to learn how to speak Spanish fluently.
