FIRE to IRIS Transition
FIRE System Retiring
The IRS FIRE system is scheduled to be retired at the end of 2026. Filers must use the Information Returns Intake System (IRIS) for 2026 tax returns in the 2027 filing season.
Tips for Transitioning
- Make sure your county has applied for the IRIS TCC - it takes up to 45 days to receive after applying
- Visit IRS.gov/iris for more information
- Stay tuned for QuickAlerts, IRIS Working Group meetings, and updates to IRS.gov resources for more
Getting Mapped
Mapping means more IFS reports work! See efficiencies with your audit by being able to provide statements right from the system. Mapping opens the executive reports, which are streamlined to provide a high-level overview.
Financial Statement Help
Looking for information on financial publishing statements? Here’s an example of Big Stone County's financial statement, and the publishing requirements (beginning on page 474 in the document) from the Office of the State Auditor (OSA).

Cash Drawer’s 7.0 release will be ready for GA on July 17! Join us on Wednesday, August 5 for a Lunch and Learn provided by TriMin and Carver County to get tips for the new release and a peak at new features! Sign up by visiting RSVP.
